Bras to Masks

I’m at home for a long weekend which gives me a chance to catch up on reading. This morning I was reading one of my father’s technical magazines. It talked about a recent patent for a a href=”http://improbable.com/2008/10/13/plucked-from-obscurity-anti-terrorism-mask/”bra/a that could be quickly converted in a face mask in the event of civil emergency.

Apple – WWDC – iPhone coming to Canada

On Monday, I received some much expected news from the a href=”http://developer.apple.com/wwdc/”Apple WWDC conference/a. Steve Jobs announced that the iPhone 3G would go on sale in Canada on Friday July 11. This was exciting news. During the day I had been infrequently been following his keynote speech through posting on macworld.com blog. a href=”http://jasonplancaster.com/”Jason /aand I talked about the WWDC but it would take until the evening before I had a chance to listen to the keynote speech. I was stoked when I found out that my cellular phone carrier will be selling the iPhone. I am hoping that they will release the contract details in a couple of days. There is one thing I am eager to explore and that is, the GPS capabilities of the iPhone which was only very briefly demonstrated during the speech. It would be sweet to be able to use it when a href=”http://www.geocaching.com/”geocaching/a.br /br /One of the applications that they featured is me.com that is described as “Microsoft Exchange for everyone else.” It is a subscription-based website that allows you to keep your mail, contacts, pictures and documents in sync not matter what device you are using. I have read the web pages describing the product but still not sure if I would ever need the functionality that it offers. I’m curious what others think of the product.br /br /Hmm, only 30 more days before the iPhone arrives…

Stoli Doli

Over the next couple of days, I will experience something that I have been curious about for a little while and that is, what does a a href=”http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Stoli-Doli/Detail.aspx”Stoli Doli’s/a taste like. a href=”http://jasonplancaster.com”Jason /a talked about them in a a href=”http://jasonplancaster.com/2007/07/27/weekend-in-florida/”post /a a little while ago and that sort of sparked my curiosity. I’ll consume the Stoli Doli on a special occasion which will make it even more memorable. I’m sure that I’ll post a blog describing the experience.

Fast, sore and excited…

Tonight I did my first week of 1,000 meter intervals along the Rideau Canal. We did four of them with a rest of 1:30 between each one. I ran them fast despite the fact that I was wearing three layers of clothing on top. My km times were 4.02/4.09/3.59/3.59. As I sit here and type my legs are warm, fuzzy and a little sore. It felt good to run the intervals fast and I’m really pleased with the way the workout went. In under two weeks, I’ll be heading to the Adirondacks in NY for a long weekend of hiking, snowshoeing, winter camping and ascend at least one of the local mountains. I have been waiting for the trip since the beginning of the year and as the weeks tick by I’m getting more excited. I also got some good new earlier this week which also makes me happy and excited as well. Also some of workout pressure finally abated which is a big relief.
